PetroChina Yunnan Petrochemical Company is located in Anning Industrial Park, Kunming, Yunnan Province. It is a national major energy strategic project and a core ten-million-ton modern refinery supporting the China-Myanmar crude oil pipeline. Registered in 2011, construction started in 2013 and the plant was officially commissioned in August 2017. It has a designed crude oil processing capacity of 13 million tons per year, equipped with 17 main production units. Adopting the world-leading full-hydrogenation environmentally friendly overall process flow with over 90% localization rate of equipment, it can process Middle Eastern mixed high-sulfur crude oil transported via the China-Myanmar pipeline. It is PetroChina’s largest refining and chemical base in Southwest China.

The company manufactures 69 types of petrochemical products covering 16 categories, including National VI 92#, 95#, 98# gasoline, National VI diesel, jet fuel, liquefied petroleum gas (propane, LPG), benzene, mixed xylene, propylene, sulfur and petroleum coke. Its products guarantee oil supply for Yunnan and the broader Southwest China region, and are exported to Southeast Asian markets through cross-border logistics channels. The enterprise has established a complete QHSE management system covering quality, health, safety and environment, with professional testing laboratories. It implements strict product quality control standards and can stably supply high-quality clean oil products and basic chemical raw materials for customers.

In terms of technological innovation and green low-carbon development, Yunnan Petrochemical continuously promotes the construction of digital and intelligent plants, deploying technologies such as digital twin and intelligent process control. It optimizes production schemes and product structure to improve the yield of high value-added products. As a national-level green factory and garden-style factory, the project invested heavily in environmental protection during construction. It carries out full-process closed-loop management of waste gas, wastewater and solid waste, practices clean production, and continuously launches energy-saving and carbon reduction renovations to build a leading environmentally friendly ten-million-ton refinery in China.

Upholding the philosophy of intrinsic safety, the company consolidates the safety production defense line. It builds a complete talent training system with multi-channel career development paths and strengthens skilled workforce development. Actively fulfilling social responsibilities, it ended Yunnan’s long-term reliance on imported oil products, drives the development of industrial chains in Southwest China and supports the Belt and Road Initiative.
